FIXES
As you have already read above, we have finally released the major PvM balance update. This update includes adjustments to approximately 2500 monsters, bosses and Metinstones. With such a large number of changes, errors may naturally occur. If you notice any issues, please report them immediately via a support ticket on our website.
The goal of the new balance update was to make all classes roughly equal in strength. This was not an easy task due to the differences in attack animations and unique class skills. Nonetheless, we decided to factor in each class’s abilities and advantages during the balancing process.
For example, the Weapon Sura gains a significant advantage through Enchanted Blade, while the Magic Sura benefits from Dark Protection, which offers substantial damage reduction. Naturally, such strong advantages must be balanced out in order to avoid having only those classes dominate the gameplay. Just something to keep in mind.
Before the update, the damage progression curves were highly unbalanced. With the new update, they are now relatively even. Equipment plays a significant role at different levels - especially items that grant attributes. Additionally, skills such as Aura of the Sword or Enchanted Blade were only calculated with P mastery starting from level 55. We have aimed to make the scaling feel as natural and consistent as possible. (picture based on metin damage)
Here we present more detailed numbers to show how the balancing now looks. These numbers may seem unusual at first, but for testing purposes, we disabled various effects to achieve the most stable values possible and to simplify comparisons. Poison, critical hits, piercing, and some other bonuses were deactivated.
These numbers are only meant to illustrate the damage differences between classes. Even before the balancing update, the differences weren’t that larg, but with critical hits, piercing, and similar effects enabled, the gaps more than doubled.
Before implementing the balancing update, we recorded and compared all damage values. Testing was done using full push - however, only with commonly used items. No additional items such as Ariyoung's Ring or Exploration Certificates were used. We included Dragon God buffs, Dews, Fish, Item Shop bonuses and the Attack+ skill with +105 attack value.
One notable insight from the following statistics is related to the Ninja class, where we uncovered the long-standing mystery of the most efficient farming method. We compared the Ninja’s damage and DPS using a sword, daggers on foot, and daggers while mounted. Since the highest DPS was achieved using daggers on a mount, we excluded the other methods in subsequent tests and continued testing only with the most effective option. We also compared male and female characters, which showed no significant difference. For Ninjas, the difference was exactly zero.
Let’s take a look at our most frequently played high-level dungeons.
Next, let’s take a look at our low-level dungeons.
Even after nearly 3 years, the Devil Tower is still frequently played. That’s why we’re including statistics for it as well.
In conclusion, we can say that completing this balance update was a very challenging process. It’s a fine line between right and wrong, and what’s right or wrong can look different to each individual. While we certainly can’t please every player with this balancing, we hope it brings a big smile to most faces.
Of course, mistakes may occur, and we will address them in follow-up patches. With such a large number of changes, errors, especially typos, are inevitable. However, we are very satisfied with the outcome and hope you are too. Please feel free to share your thoughts in the chat rooms, but we ask that everyone keeps the discussion respectful and constructive.
Have fun trying it out!
